Talking about our Projects

In Learning Neighbourhood 2 we started talking about doing "Passion Projects" this term. We talked about the different parts that the students would need to include. We started of talking about a historical component. For our new learning agreement, students have to describe an historical event - here are some we brainstormed:

Historical Events

Here is an animation about the Battle of Hastings based on the famous Bayeux Tapestry (maybe you could find out more about it)!

Here is a video about the first man walking on the moon:

A funny poem

"On the Ning Nang Nong" by Spike Milligan:

On the Ning Nang Nong
Where the Cows go Bong!
and the monkeys all say BOO!
There's a Nong Nang Ning
Where the trees go Ping!
And the tea pots jibber jabber joo.
On the Nong Ning Nang
All the mice go Clang
And you just can't catch 'em when they do!
So its Ning Nang Nong
Cows go Bong!
Nong Nang Ning
Trees go ping
Nong Ning Nang
The mice go Clang
What a noisy place to belong
is the Ning Nang Ning Nang Nong!!

Lemonade Stand - Strategy Game

When I was your age I used to love playing a game called, “Lemonade Stand”. In this game you have to make money by making and selling lemonade. Depending on what supplies you buy, the weather on the day or how much you charge for a glass will impact on the profits you make.

Investigating Robotics

Although a few years old, I dragged the old Lego Robotics kits out and the children sorted the kits out and began creating their robots. The next stage is to teach them how to program their robots on the computer.

Assembly

Congratulations to all the students in 3/4KT who presented at this morning's full school assembly. Many other teachers commented on how the performance was entertaining, genuine, fun and showed that children in Learning Neighbourhood 2 enjoy their learning. Some teachers even said it was the best assembly they have seen this year!

Parent Morning Tea

A big thank you to all the parents and friends who attended Learning Neighbourhood 2s morning tea. Kevin and I both agree that the quality of the food made by the families was outstanding and the best we have ever seen at Princes Hill Primary School. What a difference it makes with no packaged food! The children did a wonderful job in the concert and then worked with gusto on their Learning Agreements as the parents wandered around to see the learning taking place.

We would also like to thank Lisa (Josh's mum) and Dianne (George P's mum) for organising this event.
